Oriental Rug Cleaning

Submersion Handwash Cleaning Process for Oriental Rugs and Carpets

Please understand that some stains like pet, ink, coffee, cordial, coloured wax stains may not be completely removed as they have permanently changed the colour of the fibre. If the rug smells and has pet odour we neutralize the odour to eliminate it.

Process for Submersion Handwash Cleaning:

Step 1. Dirt, dust and soil removal.
It is important to remove all dirt particles from the rug as foot traffic and dry soil can act like sandpaper on the fibre. Dirt lying deep within the rug is removed using compressed air and vacuums.

Step 2. Wash and Rinse. In many of the countries where oriental rugs, mats and runners are manufactured, the washing is done in a flowing river, where rugs are submerged for hours at a time. Our process essentially replicates this method with a wash tank in which water moves from one end to the other continuously. Mild cleaning solutions designed specifically for Oriental rug fibres like silk and wool are massaged deeply into the rug. Unlike a simple bath, our process irrigates fresh water across the rug.

Fringes are treated separately to prevent damage.

Step 3. Final Rinse. The rug is removed from the wash tank and given a soft water rinse.

Step 4. Drying. The rugs are air dried under the sun as much as possible as the sun makes the result more beautiful and gives nature's warmth to the fibre

Step 5.
Grooming the Fringes. Attention to detail is essential at this stage, so we hand-comb the rug’s fringes to ensure that they are properly finished and groomed.

Step 6. Final Inspection. We maintain the highest standards, so our inspection process is thorough. We don’t hesitate to repeat any steps that might be necessary to provide you with the cleanest rug possible.
